Does the President read
his speeches before he reads them in public?
"...it makes sense for the citizen out there to curtail non-essential travel ... There's ways for the federal government to lead when it comes to conservation," he said.
President George Bush is calling on Americans to conserve gas by doing less driving. This is the second time in about a month that the pres has urged us not to drive if we didn't have to. Actually, the first time, while gas prices were rising, he urged us not to BUY gas if we didn't need to.
Then he began to fly around the country like there was some bottomless well of fuel that only he knew about. You have to realize that when Bushie takes off in Air Force One, he has to have a fighter escort flying along beside his plane, so we now have 2 aircraft wasting fuel instead of one. Add the helicoters for the president, his staff, secret service agents, and the press corps that accompanies him and that's a lot of fuel. And President Bush is said to be reminding staff to turn off lights. I don't suppose at this time we could actually expect the president to take a reality check.
We all know that in this modern world, the president can get just as good a view from Washington as he can in Louisiana, probably better, as anyone who has ever visited a televised event will tell you, the view is just better at home.
And everyone knows that the media was doing a much better job of information collection than the White House was.
But, rather than stay in D.C. where he would be instantly available to make decisions (there's a scary thought), he chose to run around the country trying to do damage control on his plummeting popularity rating. Kanye West was wrong about Bush; it's not that he doesn't care about Black people, he just cares more about himself.
Anyway, the amount of fuel President Bush has wasted in the last month probaly could have kept a small town in fuel for the next six months.
With every word from the President's mouth, with every God inspired decision he makes, he puts the country at greater and greater risk and we still have another two years of this madness.
